CIDA is an international symposium held by the Communication Research Association (İLAD) established in 1989 and Communication Faculty Deans’ (İLDEK) founded in 2000 by the Deans of Communication Faculties in Turkey and Deans of Communication Faculties abroad that are operating in relation to with the Turkish Higher Education system.
The Three Communication Symposiums in the Digital Age have been held at various institutions: the first in 2018 at Mersin University’s Faculty of Communication, the second in 2020 at the Izmir University of Economics’ Faculty of Communication, and the third, led by Ankara University’s Faculty of Communication (ILEF), was supported by the communication faculties of Başkent University, Hacettepe University, and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, along with related departments and programs from Çankaya, Atılım, and Ankara Social Sciences Universities. The 4th Symposium will be held on 28-30 November 2024 at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Famagusta, Northern Cyprus.
CALL FOR PAPERS
In the digital age, communication has brought about profound changes in the ways societies and individuals communicate. Digital communication tools offer faster access to information and people than ever before. The widespread adoption of the internet and mobile technologies has made it possible to connect with people from all around the world instantly. Digital platforms have increased interactions between different cultures and accelerated globalization. Through social media and other digital tools, people can share cultural knowledge and experiences, enriching the information capital they engage with day by day.

Abstract Submission and Panel Proposals
Abstracts and panel proposals must be submitted via the online application system before November 17, 2024.
By clicking the “Submit Notification” icon above, you will be directed to the CMT system. Once redirected to the CMT system, the information required to register can be found by clicking the “CMT SYSTEM REGISTRATION STEPS” icon. After completing the registration process in the CMT system, abstracts can be uploaded to the system. Abstracts sent via email will not be accepted. Presentations can be made in either English or Turkish. For presentations in Turkish, both English and Turkish abstracts must be submitted.
Abstracts should be between 300-500 words and include the scope, theoretical framework, purpose, method, and results where applicable. Each presentation is allotted 20 minutes. Abstracts must include at least three keywords.
Panel proposals should consist of three or four participants, and a single submission must be made by the proposal owner, including the identities of the participants. Panel proposals must include a summary explaining and justifying the panel (300-500 words), an abstract for each presentation (300-500 words), and at least three keywords. Presentations in the panel will be allocated 15 minutes, and the panel chair will have 10 minutes to conduct the discussion.
Evaluation Criteria
Submitted abstracts will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
– Theoretical contribution
– Writing quality
– Originality/Value
– Relevance to the general theme of the symposium
– All abstracts presented at the symposium will be included in the abstract booklet.
Abstracts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Full papers of accepted abstracts must be uploaded to the “Camera Ready” section on the CMT system. Even if an abstract is accepted, if the content and methods of the full paper are deemed insufficient during the final evaluation by the Scientific Committee, the author(s) will be given a short period for revisions. If the necessary revisions are not made, the paper will be rejected. Accepted papers will be published in the symposium proceedings. Papers deemed appropriate by the Scientific Committee may also be published in the journals of different communication faculties in Turkey.
REGISTRATION FEES
The symposium fee is for each participant. Each participant can attend with a maximum of 2 papers.
In presentations with multiple authors, the fee is only charged to participants.
When making a bank payment/transfer, the ‘description’ section should include the ‘2024 CIDA Symposium Registration Fee’ and the participant’s name.
Registration fees are non-refundable.
